"Austrian Precision, European Performance"
About Steyr
Steyr is a premium Austrian tractor brand owned by CNH Industrial, producing high-performance agricultural tractors for the European market. Known for advanced CVT transmissions, precision engineering, and their distinctive white-and-green livery, Steyr tractors are the European counterpart to Case IH and are built at CNH's St. Valentin factory in Austria.
Brand History
Steyr's roots date to 1864 when Josef Werndl founded an arms factory in Steyr, Austria. The company diversified into vehicles and tractors in the early 20th century, producing its first tractor in 1928. After World War II, Steyr became one of Austria's leading industrial manufacturers. In 1996, Steyr's agricultural division merged with Case Corporation, and after further consolidation became part of CNH Industrial. Today, Steyr tractors are built alongside Case IH machines at the St. Valentin plant in Austria, sharing platforms while maintaining distinct engineering identities.
