Case IH is an American agricultural equipment brand owned by CNH Industrial. Known for their red tractors and innovative engineering, Case IH is particularly strong in the large agricultural tractor and combine harvester markets. The brand carries forward the legacy of both Case and International Harvester, two of the most important names in American agricultural history.
Case IH was formed in 1985 when Tenneco merged the agricultural equipment operations of J.I. Case and International Harvester. The combined company brought together over 175 years of agricultural innovation. Case IH became part of CNH Industrial in 1999 and continues to be a major force in agricultural equipment.
Case IH is the direct descendant of J.I. Case Company, merged with International Harvester's agricultural division in 1985. While the original Case brand no longer exists as a separate entity, Case IH continues the legacy of both companies.
Case IH tractors use FPT Industrial engines, which is part of the same CNH Industrial family. These engines are specifically designed for agricultural applications and are shared with some New Holland models.
Both Case IH and New Holland are owned by CNH Industrial and share some manufacturing facilities and components. However, they maintain separate dealer networks, product lines, and brand identities targeting different customer preferences.
Case IH tractors have a strong reputation for reliability, particularly in large agricultural applications. Their Magnum and Steiger series are highly regarded by commercial farmers for durability and performance in demanding conditions.
Case IH's focus is primarily on utility and large agricultural tractors. For compact tractors, CNH Industrial's portfolio includes other options, and Case IH dealers often work with customers to find appropriate solutions for smaller applications.
